Just heard from ADT that there was a theft (no unforced entry) over the festive season at No. 40. Says ADT:

According to the client he went on leave from the 24th of December 2008 and returned on the 2nd of January 2009. Upon his arrival he discovered that there were some items missing from his flat. After investigation it was discovered that an unknown number of suspects must have had keys for the client’s flat as there was no force marks on any of the doors or windows. The suspect/s then took 1 x computer, 1 x cell phone and unknown cosmetics. They then fled the scene the same way as access was gained.

The owner has said that he will report the incident to the police.

Last night the trustees met to discuss the problems that individuals have had in getting their rates accounts from the City of Johannesburg. As you know, when we finally do get a bill, it will be backdated from 1 July this year and will be pretty big, so getting our accounts is becoming more and more important.

The trustees decided to hire a consultant to get us our accounts as soon as possible. If you have already received your account (when I last spoke to the City they said that 3 owners have their accounts) or if you wish to do this on your own, please let us know in the next 7 days (i.e. before Thursday the 4th of December) otherwise we will presume that owners need help with this. You will be billed R200 for this service by the consultant and you’ll see this fee on your next levy account.

We really hope that this resolves the problem quickly and efficiently – and that it saves us all the many hours that it has been taking to get our account from the City.
